The food that inspired us.
Good and festive food’s most vivid memory, is the one of our grandparents, that used to prepare simple dishes in the evening, for the day after: omelettes, vegetables, preserved food, cured meat, all wrapped up into the “maccaturo” – a sort of a basket, created by using a headscarf – so that food could be brought to the fields. To regain strength, it was very important, during the early hours of the morning already, to eat, after working in the fields on sunrise, accompanying food with a good glass of red wine. The meal, during or after working in the fields, was also sharing joy in company, a promise for a good yield and further profitable years.
